Lets first take a small glimpse of who Buddah was before getting into the words of wisdom on health in which he shared with the world.
The Buddha, or also translated to the “enlightened one”, was born Siddhartha (which means “he who achieves his aim”) Gautama, was a prince in India in the 6th century B.C.
According to the most widely known and accepted story of his life, after experimenting with different teachings for years, and finding none of them he accepted as truth, Gautama spent a night in deep meditation, seeking for the answers he longed for. During the time in his meditation, all of the answers had seeked became clear, and achieved full awareness, thereby becoming Buddha.
A few quotes on health from the Buddah:
“Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship.”
“To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.”
“Without health life is not life; it is only a state of languor and suffering – an image of death.”
